Communities come and go. A trusted brand lasts for generations.
Pratt Homes has been building in Barrie since 1890. But for years, much of the marketing focus was placed on the individual communities they were developing, not on the Pratt Homes name behind them.
That meant buyers could become familiar with a neighbourhood, a project or a sales centre without fully understanding the legacy, experience and local commitment of the builder itself.
We saw an opportunity to change that.
Instead of treating Pratt Homes as the supporting brand, we began positioning it as the reason to believe.
Through our Define Before Design® process, we supported them with:
- Define Before Design® Sessions
- Brand Experience Strategy
- Visual Brand Identity
- Website Design / Development
- Video Script / Planning
- Email Marketing
- Social Media Gtraphics
- Signage
- Content Writing
The Challenge
Pratt Homes had something many builders simply couldn’t claim: more than a century of history in the same city they continue to build in today.
Yet that story was getting lost.
Individual communities often had their own websites, campaigns and identities, which meant attention was being divided across multiple brands. In some cases, buyers could interact with a Pratt community without ever really understanding who Pratt Homes was.
At the same time, Barrie was continuing to grow, bringing new builders into the market from across the GTA. Pratt’s longevity, local roots and ongoing investment in the community created a meaningful point of difference, but only if people knew about it.
The challenge was to shift the conversation from simply selling communities to building long-term equity in the Pratt Homes brand itself.
Our Approach
We began by changing the customer journey.
Instead of sending buyers in different directions depending on the community they were interested in, we brought everything back to one central brand experience at PrattHomes.ca.
The website was reimagined to put Pratt Homes first, allowing visitors to understand the company, its history, values and approach before exploring the individual communities available to them.
We helped bring Pratt’s legacy to life through storytelling, including a brand video featuring the current owner speaking about her family’s history of building homes in Barrie since 1890.
We also gave greater visibility to the things that had previously sat quietly in the background: industry awards, community involvement, the Design Market, homeowner support and the many ways Pratt continues to invest in the city it calls home.
The visual experience evolved alongside the strategy. Using the newly introduced Pratt Homes logo, we developed a more sophisticated black-and-white-led brand expression, using the familiar Pratt blue more intentionally as an accent.
Across the website, social media and marketing, the focus shifted from promoting separate developments to building recognition, familiarity and trust around one name.
The Outcome
Today, every Pratt community strengthens the same brand.
Rather than dividing attention between multiple project identities, the marketing ecosystem now works together to build awareness and equity in Pratt Homes as a whole.
Traffic is concentrated through one central website. Social media tells one larger story. New communities benefit from the recognition built by those that came before them.
And homeowners gain something even more important: a better understanding of who they are buying from.
In a market where some builders arrive for a single development and move on, Pratt Homes can point to generations of building, living and investing in Barrie.
Their story is no longer hidden behind the communities they create.
It leads them.
Because a great community may get someone’s attention.
A trusted brand gives them a reason to buy.
