If you are not branding your business with intention on who you are attracting, then you will begin to attract everyone. This forces you to try to be everything to everyone. The problem with this is that you can’t please everyone.
I often compare this topic to an online dating service. For example: let’s create an account and give yourself a screen name. Are you going to be “PartyGirl” or “WannaBeMom”. Both names would attract totally different people. Imagine if your name is Jenny378. You may get all walks of life attracted to that name. Details on your looks, location, hobbies and goals will attract like-minded people. The more specific you are, the more accurate results you will get.
Branding is equivalent to the person on a dating site who knows who they are and what they want. They will most likely attract Tom or Dick or Harry… but not all three.
When you know what you want, where you’re headed and why, almost nothing can stop you.
